ENKA Insaat, one of Türkiye’s leading construction and engineering firms, has signed a $289 million agreement to expand an existing power plant in northern Iraq, underscoring the company’s ongoing investment in regional energy infrastructure.
According to a disclosure made via Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the contract was signed with Iraq-based Taurus Arm for Power Generation, Oil Transportation and Services Ltd. The project will upgrade a 500-megawatt (MW) simple-cycle power plant in Sulaymaniyah to a more efficient 750 MW combined-cycle facility.
While simple-cycle plants rely solely on gas turbines, combined-cycle systems incorporate both gas and steam turbines, boosting energy output and efficiency.
