Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani has inaugurated the Al-Zaytoon Baghdad / Mövenpick Hotel, marking the partial launch of its main facilities in preparation for the upcoming Arab Summit in the capital.
Describing the hotel as one of the largest private-sector tourism and hospitality investments in Baghdad, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s full support for private sector projects that fuel economic growth, generate employment, and enhance tourism infrastructure. The inauguration comes as Baghdad celebrates its selection as the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2025.
During a tour of the hotel, Al-Sudani praised the quality of construction and the project’s adherence to timelines despite prevailing challenges. He emphasized the government’s continued backing for tourism-related developments to meet rising demand for hotels, resorts, and attractions.
He noted that Baghdad is witnessing rapid transformation across all sectors and is increasingly positioning itself as a key regional and international destination for major events.
The Mövenpick brand, based in Switzerland, is fully owned by French hospitality group Accor.
