Egypt’s agricultural exports reached 5.2 million tonnes in the first half of the year, with citrus fruits and potatoes topping the list, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
In a report submitted to Minister Alaa Farouk by the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, citrus exports led with approximately 1.8 million tonnes, followed by 1.2 million tonnes of potatoes—highlighting their continued prominence as high-quality, in-demand crops.
Other major export products included:
168,000 tonnes of fresh onions
136,000 tonnes of fresh and dry beans
103,000 tonnes of sweet potatoes
Along with grapes, strawberries, garlic, tomatoes, guavas, and pomegranates
Minister Farouk emphasized Egypt’s growing reputation as a regional hub for premium agricultural exports, noting that strict adherence to quality and food safety standards is opening new international markets and strengthening global confidence in Egyptian produce.
He credited the success of the export system to the combined efforts of farmers, exporters, and producers, as well as the continuous oversight by agricultural engineers, quarantine officials, and central laboratory staff. Foreign agricultural cooperation has also played a key role in facilitating market access.
Farouk urged all ministry departments to maintain and enhance support for producers, streamline export procedures, and continue efforts to uphold the quality and competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural goods.
