Oman’s dairy industry is emerging as a key contributor to national food security, enhancing local value creation and meeting the growing demand for high-quality local products. The sector is seeing robust growth, supported by increased investment in production facilities, retail expansion, and adherence to international quality and sustainability standards.
Modern Dairy Factory, part of the Oman Flour Mills Group, is at the forefront of this progress. The company reported revenues of about $3.77 million in the first half of 2025—a 142% year-on-year increase—reflecting the rising market share of local brands. It recently launched operations at a new plant in Rusayl Industrial Area, designed to double production capacity, expand product lines, and boost both domestic supply and export potential.
CEO Haitham bin Mohammed Al Fannah described the facility as a technological leap for the sector, equipped with advanced pasteurisation, homogenisation, fermentation, and automated packaging systems that improve efficiency and ensure product safety. The company applies internationally recognised quality systems and strict hygiene controls across all production stages, sourcing raw materials from certified local suppliers.
Sustainability is a central pillar of its strategy, with initiatives to reduce energy and water consumption, implement waste management solutions, and explore renewable energy options in partnership with the Oman Flour Mills Group. Innovation is another priority, with new product development targeting healthy lifestyles and expanded research and development efforts to strengthen the local industry’s value proposition.
Modern Dairy Factory also plays an active role in community development—supporting local suppliers, creating national job opportunities, participating in health awareness campaigns, and partnering with educational institutions to promote nutritional awareness and healthy eating habits.
