Egypt now covers 60% of its red meat needs through local production and has achieved near-total self-sufficiency in poultry, according to Mohamed el Qersh, spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
Speaking to the media, Qersh highlighted that Egypt’s food security strategy focuses on veterinary services, livestock sector development, and ensuring the supply of safe, high-quality animal products.
Ongoing inspections of veterinary pharmaceutical centers aim to uphold service quality, verify licenses, and monitor veterinary drug safety.
These efforts, Qersh stressed, are vital for protecting animal health and enhancing Egypt’s food production capabilities.
