Oman has greenlit the development of a second major resort in Salalah, the southern coastal city known for its lush landscapes and monsoon season appeal. The new project, Boulevard Razaz, is part of the country’s broader push to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on oil revenues.
Valued at $100 million, the resort will span 470,000 square metres and feature a wide range of attractions, including canals, landscaped gardens, a shopping mall, restaurants, a marina, a hotel, and an exhibition centre.
“This project aims to increase tourist footfall in Salalah and contributes to the broader vision of economic diversification,” said Sayyid Marwan Al-Said, Governor of Salalah, in an interview with Oman Television.
The resort is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2027 and is set to create 1,500 jobs for Omanis.
Boulevard Razaz follows the announcement of the $350 million Salalah New City waterfront development last month, underlining the government’s strong commitment to tourism-led growth.
Located 800km south of Muscat, Salalah offers a unique climate in the Arabian Peninsula, becoming a popular summer retreat due to the Khareef monsoon season, which brings cooler temperatures and lush greenery, attracting both domestic and regional tourists.
