Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), has conducted field trials to evaluate the use of drones in controlling desert locusts.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize pest management and improve aerial spraying techniques. The trials aim to assess the efficiency and precision of drone technology in combating locusts and other agricultural pests.
The event also introduced cutting-edge pest control methods to member states of the Desert Locust Control Commissions. It brought together FAO experts and representatives from local and international companies specializing in drone-based aerial spraying solutions.
