Al Dhahirah Municipality is actively progressing on multiple internal road construction projects across the wilayats, as part of its annual plan to improve services, infrastructure, and urban aesthetics.
The total length of the roads currently under development spans approximately 111 kilometers across various wilayats.
Engineer Salem bin Mohammed Al Sarkhi, Director of the Projects Department at Al Dhahirah Municipality, noted that in the Wilayat of Ibri, 60 kilometers are being paved under two separate packages, with a total investment of approximately USD 10.4 million. In Yanqul, 25 kilometers are being developed at a cost of around USD 5.7 million, while 26 kilometers of roads are under construction in Dhank with a budget of roughly USD 4.2 million.
According to Al Sarkhi, these projects are at different stages of implementation. The Ibri paving project (packages one and two) has reached around 15% completion, while road works in Yanqul and Dhank have progressed to 30% completion.
He emphasized that these infrastructure improvements will enhance connectivity between villages and neighborhoods, easing transportation for residents. Additionally, they will contribute to improving public health by reducing dust pollution from unpaved roads, while also boosting the visual appeal of the area and supporting social, economic, and tourism development in alignment with the governorate’s broader development goals.
The roads are designed with features to ensure safety during rain and flooding, and include appropriate directional signage to guide road users.
Al Sarkhi added that the municipality is continuing to study and propose new projects for paving and upgrading internal roads in the near future, following a prioritization framework that aligns with the region’s infrastructure and beautification plans.
