Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is preparing to award two key design-and-build contracts in the second quarter of 2025, reflecting the country’s continued investment in sports and educational infrastructure.
According to sources familiar with the developments, Ashghal is expected to award the contract for Phase 4 of the Al Uqda Equestrian Complex in Al Khor by June 2025. The $100 million project includes the design and construction of a new grandstand, a 1,000-meter straight track, associated racetrack facilities, and modifications to the existing track. Additional works involve building an underground tunnel, installing LED lighting, and integrating media, radio, and audiovisual systems. Completion is targeted for the second quarter of 2028.
Meanwhile, Ashghal is also expected to award a separate contract for the construction of three new schools and parking upgrades at existing schools across various locations. This project, estimated at $40 million, will be awarded in May 2025, with completion scheduled for December 2028.
Both tenders have attracted significant interest and are seen as part of Qatar’s broader strategy to enhance social infrastructure and public amenities in line with national development goals.
