Oman has inaugurated a pioneering facility valued at OMR 41 million ($106.6 million) to extract pure copper from legacy mining waste, employing advanced and sustainable technologies, according to the Oman News Agency (ONA).
The project was launched under the patronage of Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, with participation from senior officials and private sector leaders.
This initiative turns environmental waste into economic opportunity, in line with Oman Vision 2040’s goals for sustainable industrialization and resource optimization. It aims to strengthen Oman’s local value chains, boost its natural resource-based industries, and enhance competitiveness across global markets.
