Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has launched a tender inviting bids for the development, management, and operation of a luxury marina for tourist yachts in Quriyat, located in the Muscat governorate.
The project tender, issued by the ministry’s Internal Investment Committee, is open to both local and international investors with expertise in marine infrastructure. Bidders are required to submit proposals in accordance with the specifications outlined in the official tender documents.
Key tender dates include:
Document purchase period: May 12 – June 22
Clarification period: June 18 – July 6
Proposal submission deadline: August 17
The proposed marina is part of Oman’s broader strategy to expand its maritime infrastructure and attract foreign direct investment, in line with national economic diversification objectives. The government previously allocated land in the Daghmar area of Quriyat to support this initiative.
Yacht tourism is on the rise in Muscat, with around 500 registered tourist yachts currently operating in the governorate. According to Captain Majid bin Saif al Barhi, Director General of Maritime Affairs at MTCIT, the sector is an increasingly important driver of marine tourism.
“Tourists are particularly drawn to Oman’s rich coastal environment, including key attractions such as the Dimaniyat Islands, Bandar al Khiran, and other notable sites,” he noted.
Oman currently has six marinas in operation, with the Quriyat project expected to significantly enhance capacity and service offerings for luxury marine tourism.
