The upcoming Hospitality Qatar 2017 is expected to attract huge participation from some of the Middle East region’s top hospitality investors, hoteliers, restaurateurs, and cafés operators, organizers have said.
The three-day event, considered the country’s premier International Hospitality and Hotel/Restaurant/Café (HORECA) Trade Show, will run from November 7 to November 9 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
“Hospitality Qatar 2017 is a great opportunity for HORECA builders to meet new potential customers and investors from the entire Gulf region. We are confident that this year’s show will attract a record level of interest and participation from across the industry with more than 12 countries participating, and hundreds of exhibitors and brands,” said Karim Raffoul, Project Manager, Hospitality Qatar 2017.
Hospitality Qatar 2017 will feature an exhibition zone, a B2B program, educational workshops and simultaneous events and activities, allowing visitors and participants to experience a 360-degree coverage of all aspects of the HORECA, F&B and hospitality investment markets. This year, Hospitality Qatar is also introducing a new addition called HQ – Food Qatar, a platform designed to serve Qatar’s food and catering industry. The three-day show will be composed of three zones; Food & Beverage, Supply & Design, and Hotel & Franchise Investment. Exciting events to look out for include the Salon Culinaire, a Live Cooking Competition and a Mocktail Competition.
According to organizers, Hospitality Qatar 2017 is looking towards leveraging potential opportunities across the country’s booming hospitality market, particularly across F&B and retail franchising. The Qatari government has been exerting key efforts in diversifying its economy, looking towards reducing its reliance on the oil and gas segment and exploring private and foreign investment opportunities in Qatar’s non-hydrocarbon sectors. With this in mind, the country’s hospitality and HORECA sectors are expected to experience a growth surge as the government has implemented strategic initiatives and programs, like the introduction of a 96-hour free visa scheme for travelers transiting in Qatar, and visa-free entry to 80 nationalities.
“Qatar’s exemplary move towards economic diversification has largely driven in positive results, reinforcing its position as a world-class tourism destination and ultimately driving in continuous growth for an already booming hospitality industry. We are now seeing more of the $45bn worth of investments in tourism based projects over the next 14 years. Key drivers like country’s robust economy, heavy government infrastructure spending, growing population and highest GDP per capital in the world will help create a suitable environment for franchising in Qatar,” said Raffoul.
A recent report from DTZ Qatar shows the abundance of activity in the country’s franchising and retailing segment with 11 new retail malls under construction throughout Doha and its vicinities, which will increase the overall supply of accommodation in retail malls to 1.85 million square meters, demonstrating a 200 percent increase in the current supply.
