On Monday, 14 July 2014, IFP Iraq (International Fairs and Promotions) – held its annual Iftar dinner in the honor of government officials, the diplomatic corps and businessmen in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, at Erbil Rotana Hotel, Erbil.
The dinner was attended by Minister Falah Mustafa, Head of KRG Department of Foreign Relations, and the KRG's Minister of Electricity, Salahaddin Babakir, and General Director of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Zana M. Uzeri, and His Excellency Governor of Erbil, Nawzad Hadi, the President of The Kurdistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and President of the Erbil Chamber, Dara Al-Khayat, besides to a number of officials from various ministries and government departments in the region, along with a number of representatives of diplomatic and commercial missions operating in the Kurdistan region including Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania, France, Egypt, the Netherlands, the United States, Greece, in addition to more than 100 invitees representing the elite of the business community and owners of local and foreign companies in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
In his speech, Minister Falah Mustafa, Head of KRG Department of Foreign Relations stressed his government’s determination to move the region's economic and social development forward, pointing out that his government remains committed to maintaining stability and security in the region, in addition to creating a secure and favorable climate for both local and foreign investors and entrepreneurs.
Mustafa also stressed that openness to the international community is a key factor for the Kurdistan Region in its efforts to make progress towards a brighter future, underlying that trade remains one of the most important keys to communication, openness and cooperation. In this context, Mustafa praised the efforts made by International Fairs & Promotions – IFP Iraq in connecting international trade with the Region’s markets through the exhibitions and conferences it organizes in the Kurdistan region, describing the company as a strategic partner to the region’s government in developing and promoting trade with the rest of the world. Mustafa pointed out that IFP enjoys the confidence and support of the government of the region in all the events it organizes, which by the success and the growth they achieve every single year, reflect the growth and the prosperity of the region.
In his turn, Fadi Darwish, General Manager of IFP Iraq expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all the attendees for accepting IFP’s invitation. In his speech, Darwish stressed that despite all circumstances, IFP will continue its activities as scheduled both in Erbil and Baghdad, especially that the company has considerable experience in dealing with and adapting to new circumstances, as is the case in Iraq and Lebanon, for example. Darwish renewed IFP’s commitment to further develop the exhibition industry in Iraq by increasing the number of international exhibitions and developing the level of the current exhibitions. Darwish called the business community in the Kurdistan region, in Iraq in general and the neighboring countries to benefit from the important trade opportunities provided by the exhibitions which will be held next fall like the Erbil International Fair (EIF) which will be held between 22 and 25 September 2014, Project Iraq and Energy Iraq that will be held concurrently between 20 and 23 October 2014, in addition to Iraq Agrofood which will be held between 17 and 20 November 2014.
Darwish pointed out that Erbil International Fair (EIF) will celebrate its 10th edition this year and accordingly many events and special activities are organized to mark ten years of growth and success.
