In a bid to diversify its economy, Iraq plans to raise non-oil revenues to nearly $60.4 billion by 2028. The initiative aims to reduce the country’s heavy reliance on oil, with a strategic focus on expanding the agriculture, industry, and tourism sectors.
According to Abdul Zuhra Hindwi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Planning, oil’s share of total revenue is projected to decrease from 89% in 2024 to 87% by 2028. He stressed that boosting non-oil income is essential for long-term economic stability and sustainable growth.
