Oman’s total electricity production recorded an 11% increase by the end of April 2025, reaching 13,479.8 gigawatt hours (GWh), up from 12,142.3 GWh during the same period last year, according to preliminary figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Muscat Governorate posted the sharpest rise in production, surging by 195.9% to 93.9 GWh. North and South A’Sharqiyah governorates also saw a 2.8% increase, generating 2,659.6 GWh. Meanwhile, Musandam Governorate’s output grew by 16.6%, reaching 128.2 GWh.
In the combined regions of North and South Al Batinah and A’Dhahirah, production rose 5.7% to approximately 7,970.9 GWh. However, electricity generation fell in some areas — Dhofar Governorate recorded a 4.5% decrease to 1,699.1 GWh, while Al Wusta Governorate saw a 3.2% drop to 42.3 GWh.
Oman’s net electricity production—which factors in purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company—also grew by 11.5% year-on-year to reach 13,103.7 GWh by the end of April.
In contrast, water production registered a slight 0.6% decline, standing at approximately 162.4 million cubic meters compared to 163.3 million cubic meters in the same period last year.
