Omran Group, Oman’s tourism development arm, announced significant progress in the early development stages of Janaen Salalah, a landmark agritourism project in Arzat, Salalah. The project is part of Oman’s national drive to diversify its economy by blending sustainable tourism with agriculture-based ventures.
As part of ongoing efforts, H.H. Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, visited the project site alongside senior Omran officials and key stakeholders. During the visit, they reviewed project updates and marked the ceremonial planting of the first coconut trees, signaling the launch of the initial cultivation phase—a key step toward turning the site into a productive agritourism destination.
Developed by the Agritourism Development Company, a fully owned Omran subsidiary, Janaen Salalah aspires to position Oman as a regional agritourism leader by merging farming, hospitality, recreation, and community living within a single destination.
Spanning over 5.5 million square meters, the project will feature farm-stay accommodations, coconut and papaya processing units, educational and recreational facilities, and a retail village—all designed to offer a dynamic agritourism experience for both locals and visitors.
Preparations for Phase 1 are well underway, including finalizing the masterplan design and completing a feasibility study that confirmed the project’s viability. The project also secured an Integrated Tourism Complex (ITC) licence from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, enabling foreign ownership and boosting its investment appeal. An experienced agricultural contractor has been appointed, and initial planting activities have commenced.
Upon completion, Janaen Salalah will feature 250 residential units, a 128-key five-star hotel, eco-recreation spaces, educational entertainment zones, wellness facilities, and vibrant public areas—all celebrating Oman’s agricultural heritage and natural beauty.
“This project reflects Omran’s commitment to advancing sustainable tourism models that promote investment, support local agriculture, and deliver engaging visitor experiences rooted in Oman’s heritage,” said Mundher Al Moosawi, Board Member at Janaen.
Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, the project supports national goals including economic diversification, regional development, public-private partnerships, and environmental sustainability. With Phase 1 progressing steadily, Omran aims to establish Janaen Salalah as a flagship destination that champions innovation, delivers long-term value, and strengthens Oman’s sustainable tourism landscape.
