Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced two significant infrastructure tenders aimed at modernizing key public facilities in Doha and at Qatar University, reinforcing the country’s ongoing commitment to development in both civic and educational sectors.
The first tender, issued on 1 May 2025, calls for consultancy services for the design and redevelopment of the Qatar University Female Sports Complex. The project scope includes architectural and MEP design, supervision, and lead consultancy services. It also involves the demolition of the current sports facility to make way for a modern replacement. Bids for the consultancy contract are due by 15 June 2025, with an award expected by August 2025 and project completion targeted for December 2026.
In a separate but parallel initiative, Ashghal has also opened bidding for the design and construction of the new Q-Post Headquarters in the Al Thumama area of Doha. This design-and-build tender, released on 25 March 2025, covers comprehensive civil, architectural, and MEP works for a new state-of-the-art headquarters. The deadline for bid submission is 18 May 2025, and Ashghal anticipates awarding the contract by early August, with a scheduled completion by December 2027.
The Q-Post HQ project will not only involve the construction of a new facility but also include the renovation and restoration of related structures. This includes upgrading roof waterproofing, interiors, metal shades, flooring, doors, windows, and elevators. Additional improvements span external landscaping, lighting, interlock paving, and utility services, as well as HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and electrical systems.
These projects reflect Qatar’s strategic focus on upgrading public infrastructure and creating inclusive, modern spaces that support both administrative efficiency and community development.
