Outlined in a report by Qatar’s Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, there has been an increase in building permits issued.
In its monthly report, the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) stated that the number of building permits issued last month has increased by 11% compared to the previous month.
The lion’s share of total issued permits went to Rayyan municipality, (29%) totalling 187, The Peninsula reported.
While there were also increases in the municipalities of Wakrah (44%), Al Shamal (22%) and Al Da'ayen (20%), on the decrease were the municipalities of Umm Slal (24%) and Rayyan (6%). Other municipalities didn’t witness a noticeable change.
While Sheehaniya municipality was previously included with the Rayyan data, this municipality was actually noted as separate data for the first time,
According to the geographical distribution, Rayyan municipality led with 29% of the total issued permits, while Doha municipality came in second place with 135 permits, (21%), Al Wakrah with 127 permits (20%), Al Da'ayen with 76 permits, (12%).
These were followed by Umm Slal 45 permits (7%), Al Sheehaniya 33 permits (5%), Al Khor 24 permits (4%), and finally Al Shamal 11 permits (2%).
Of those issued, the new building permits (residential and non-residential) made up 57% (366 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of January 2017, while the percentage of permits for additions comprised 38% (243 permits), with fencing permits taking up 5% (29 permits).
Villas’ permits topped the list for new residential buildings, accounting for 48% (152 permits) followed by dwellings of housing loans by 42% (132 permits) and apartments buildings by 7% (22 permits).
In the forefront of non-residential buildings permits, commercial buildings came in with 40% (21 permits), followed by industrial buildings e.g. workshops and factories with 25% (13 permits), mosques with 19% (10 permits), government buildings with 15% (8 permits).
