Project Qatar has been a preferred destination for Germany’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Mathias Gruse deputy head of mission at the German embassy in Qatar. He was speaking at a reception organized by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the German Embassy in Doha for German companies taking part in the Project Qatar 2013.
More than 70 exhibitors, including Germany-based SMEs, are taking part in the show.
“SMEs are the backbone of the German economy because it is there where innovative products and technologies have been developed. It is mainly through SMEs that Germany can maintain a strong position in world markets. And it is SMEs where most of our employment is created,” Gruse said.
He also mentioned that SMEs represent Germany’s economic strengths abroad, earning a reputation of creative engineering, of high efficiency and outstanding quality of the country’s products.
“This year, we are commemorating the 10th anniversary of our presence Project Qatar. It has been a pleasure to be Qatar’s partner in one of the major events in the Gulf region.”
The official mentioned that Germany has received a award for being a longstanding partner of Project Qatar.
“From an economic perspective, Qatar clearly is one of our major success stories and it gives me great pleasure to witness how German companies have been part of these amazing developments,” he said.
